Short version: Nosemo has no accounts and no sign-up forms. We do not ask for your name or email to read the site.

Information we collect

• Information you send us. If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and your message. We use it only to reply and to improve the site.
• Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may record technical data when a page is requested, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time. This is used for security and to keep the site running.

Favorites stay on your device

The Favorites feature saves your list of birds in your own browser (local storage). It is not sent to us or to anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Cookies and advertising

Nosemo does not set its own tracking cookies. We may show advertising from third-party networks such as Google AdSense. If we do, those vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet.

Pages link to other sites, such as Cornell Lab, Audubon, IUCN and Wikimedia Commons. We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to delete it, or to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. To make a request, email [email protected].

Children

Nosemo is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security and retention

We keep emails only as long as needed to answer them and keep our records. No internet service is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
